Most parasites refers to two groups:
"Just" and the group "worms." The second includes:
- flatworms
- roundworms
- tapeworms
The main types of worms
Parasites feed juices, tissues or food located in the human digestive tract. By place of parasitism on the host they are divided into - external (ectoparasites) and internal (endoparasites).
Settling parasites: protozoa - cysts, helminths - usually eggs and larvae are sometimes encapsulated.
Example: The roundworm eggs can survive up to 7 years, dysentery amoeba - 7 months.
The most common helminth diseases are considered intestinal: Enterobiasis (pinworms) and ascariasis (roundworm).
Nematodes
Pinworms - The length of 10-13 mm. Tail styloid, live in the colon. After fertilization, the females crawl out of the rectum and cause severe itching. After a 4-6 hours female can cause re-infection.
The life cycle of their short to 2-months, the spread everywhere. Localization - the colon. Show: feces, skin - contaminated hands, toys, clothes - mouth.
Symptoms: children often fear, migraines, itching in the anus, irritation, depression.
Roundworm - Round human roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides). Adults have a fusiform shape. The male is noticeably smaller than the female, his length is 15-25 cm x 2-4 mm and the rear end of the body is crooked. The female has a straight body 25–40 cm long and 3–6 mm thick; A mature female can lay up to 245000 eggs per day. Infection occurs by swallowing mature eggs found on vegetables, fruits, and berries. From mature eggs swallowed by a person, larvae emerge in the small intestine, penetrate the intestinal wall and penetrate into the blood capillaries, then penetrate through the blood into the liver and lungs. In addition to the intestines, liver, and lungs, roundworm larvae were found in the brain, eye, and other organs. They intensively feed on blood serum and red blood cells. In the lungs, the larva actively enters the alveoli and bronchioles, advances along the small and large bronchi. Once in the intestine, the larva reaches puberty within 70-75 days. The life span of an adult roundworm reaches a year, after which it dies and along with feces it is removed to the outside.
Show: faeces - soil - hands, vegetables, berries, fruit - mouth.
Symptoms: malaise, dizziness, abdominal pain, intestinal upset, cramping, sometimes convulsions, cough, fever, rash. The last stage: the stomach discomfort, drooling, loss of appetite, headaches, night terrors, teeth gnashing, bronchitis, asthmatic suffocation, anemia, acute respiratory infections, bronchitis, etc. Respiratory disease.
Flukes
Opisthorchiasis - a flatworm, called flukes and flukes (cat fluke). Liver trematodes (flukes, flukes) are flat helminths, 5 to 20 mm long, 1 to 4 mm wide. Eggs secreted by opisthorchis and clonorchis are small, up to 0,026 - 0,01 mm. These helminths parasitize in the bile ducts of the liver and ducts of the human pancreas, domestic animals (cats, dogs) and some wild mammals (foxes, minks, muskrats, etc.). Helminth eggs with already formed larvae are secreted into the external environment and further development takes place in freshwater bodies sequentially in freshwater mollusks and then in the fish of the cyprinid family - roach (roach, chebak), ide, dace, rudd, bream, crucian carp, tench, etc. it is possible when eating fresh, frozen or dried fish, freshwater mollusks, possibly when swimming in the stagnant waters of ponds and quarries. Flukes (clonorchis) affect mainly the pancreas, opisthorchis affects both the bile ducts of the liver and the ducts of the pancreas and gall bladder.
There are three stages of the disease:
- a latent (latent) period when helminths have just invaded and are at the stage of immature eggs or tiny larvae,
- acute period - when sexually mature individuals multiply intensively and release toxins into the blood, causing a relapse of the disease,
- the chronic course of the disease, which is sluggish, but steadily leads to serious diseases:
Symptoms: weakness, headache (up to epileptic symptoms), digestive disorders, weakening of appetite, bitter taste in the mouth, heaviness in the right upper quadrant. People are often very aggressive, pale skin, flabby muscles.
Complications: nonfunctioning gallbladder, cholecystitis, cholangitis, liver abscess, gall bladder stones.
Protozoa
Giardiasis - Parasites in the upper part of the small intestine, bile duct, gall bladder. Distribution - everywhere. Show: feces - soil, water, vegetables, contaminated hands - mouth.
There are three stages of the disease:
- latent form - in most invasive giardiasis occurs without any clinical manifestations;
- acute form - the disease begins acutely, the patient has a liquid, watery stool without impurities of mucus and blood. Stool of unpleasant odor; admixtures of fat float on the surface. There are pains in the epigastric region. A large amount of gas is inflated, inflating the intestines, belching with a gas with a hydrogen sulfide odor is noted.
There have loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting may be, in some patients the body temperature rises slightly.
- chronic form - occurs in the form of relapses, bloating periodically appears, there may be pain in the epigastric region, sometimes loose stools are noted.
Symptoms: pain in the upper abdomen, the navel, rumbling and bloating. There may be constipation alternating with diarrhea.
It is important to know and observe basic rules of hygiene of the body:
- wash your hands before eating,
- after working with the land,
- before and after the toilet.
It must be remembered that the dust in the streets, sand, brought home with a shoe, can be the cause of infestation.
It may be unsafe eating unwashed vegetables, fruits and berries (such as strawberries), which lay on the ground.
