Some researchers believe that a person should drink about 30 ml of water per 1 kg of body weight per day. This amount does not include the liquid in the food. Based on this, with a weight of 90 kg, the norm will be 2,7 liters. As for salt, this volume of water should account for 1,3 g (It is almost enough to lick the salt with the tip of your tongue with each glass). If the body weight is higher, then the volume of fluid and the amount of salt respectively increase, as on hot days, when visiting a bath, intense physical exertion, when the required volume of fluid consumed increases. A prerequisite is drinking plenty of water in case of febrile conditions. Increasing protein in the diet, drinking coffee and alcohol, and smoking all increase the need for water.
Of course, if a person has kidney and heart diseases, then it is necessary to coordinate the water regime with the attending physician.
Increasing the volume of drinking water, be sure to monitor the flow of urine. The amount of urine excreted should increase in proportion to fluid intake. If less urine comes out, then it can be assumed that there are any problems in the functioning of the urinary system or heart and you should contact a specialist.

The wrong drinking regime can be addictive. Many may say, “I don’t drink because I don’t feel like it,” and this will be true. For example, an elderly person's body gets used to living in conditions of low water consumption. In this case, a person does not have a desire to drink, unless in very hot weather or after a lot of physical exertion. Therefore, you should not wait for dry mouth, you just need to drink water. Proponents of increasing water intake suggest the following rate - 6 to 10 glasses per day (depending on body weight and physical activity). And it is necessary to distribute it as follows.
Drink the first glass (230-250 ml) immediately after waking up. By the way, it is generally accepted that if you dream of a river, a waterfall or a bucket of water, then this is a "hint" of the body to the feeling of thirst.
Next, you need to drink a glass of water after each trip to the toilet, during and after physical activity or sports. For convenience, you can carry a water bottle with you.
A glass of water is needed before a meal (preferably 30 minutes before it). If the food is supposed to be mostly solid, then you should drink more water (up to 2 glasses). This will have a positive effect on the condition of the gastrointestinal tract, especially with gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, duodenitis (inflammation of the duodenum), irritable bowel syndrome. By the way, drinking water will allow you not to overeat, which is especially important for people who are overweight. If you feel thirsty while eating, do not deny yourself this.
